Hello,everybody !

I’m Alice !

I want to introduce my class : we are only thirteen , nine girls and four boys.

We attend Year 4 at Luzzatti Institute studying foreign languages and so, next year will be the last one for us.

We are happy and proud to take part in the Comenius Project , I personally had the honour to be in Estonia at the first meeting.

We all hope to have the opportunity to meet you in the future. Keep in mind....we are coming to Madrid on next April!

Alcuni di noi / Some of us

Hi ! Here we are : class 2B, 2 year students at Luzzatti institute.

Our high school is located in Gazzera, a small neighbourhood on the mainland not far from Venice. Luzzatti is a vocational school and next year we'll achieve the diploma as operator in company management.

In our class there are 23 students: sixteen nice girls and seven handsome boys. We aren't all Italian: Umran, Asmire and Gulsay come from Macedonia and so they speak Turkish; Duling,Qing and Duhui are Chinese and they are learning Italian. They are working hard as Chinese is very different from Italian! Zoge is Albanian, she has been living in Italy since 2001. As you can see, it's a multicultural class !

We think it's a pretty good class. In fact, we stay quite well together and, only sometimes, there are some incomprehensions; when this happens, we try to find a solution and talk about the best way to solve our problems.

Our weekly timetable consists in 34 hours of lessons ; we study two foreign languages, English and French but the subject that characterised our course is Informatics. During group works we help one another; our teachers are very friendly and helpful , mainly, of course, when we need help.

When our Science teacher, Mrs Eugenia Iovane, told us about Comenius project , we were very excited to take part in such interesting activities. Other teachers are helping us in the Project : Mrs Lucia Oldrati, our teacher of Informatics and Communication Technology, who works with us on the computers and Mrs Paola Furlan, our teacher of English , who checks what we produce in English. Be sure, they have a lot of work! We thanks all of them.

At the moment, we are following all the interesting activities of the Immediate Surroundings Project, and together with Mrs Iovane , we have decided to study the Venetian lagoon.

We started with a visit to the Natural History Museum in Venice last November and we will end with a trip to the lagoon islands next Spring.

Piccoli attori crescono / Little actors grow up

Dopo le vacanze di Natale si ricomincia a pieno ritmo! I ragazzi del gruppo teatrale stanno facendo le prime esperienze come attori e attrici di teatro per riuscire entro maggio a rappresentare uno spettacolo teatrale alle scuole dei bambini più piccoli. Una docente con esperienza professionale di attività teatrale riunisce 2 gruppi di studenti una volta a settimana per fare svolgere loro alcuni esercizi basilari.

Back again after Christmas Holidays! The students of the drama group are moving their first steps as actors and actresses so as to stage a play for younger children next May. A teacher with a professional theatrical background meets two groups of students once a week to make them do some basic exercises.

Non è affatto facile, tuttavia pian piano lo smarrimento lascia spazio alla consapevolezza e si comincia a non temer più di lasciar fuoriuscire liberamente espressione e movimento.

It is by no means an easy task, but little by little a sense of confusion/bewilderment is replaced by awareness and everybody freely lets feelings and movement loose.

In un attimo non sembrano più soltanto ragazzi ma figuranti che si muovono sul palco impacciati ma divertiti e basta cogliere l'attimo... per vederli sotto una altra luce. All of a sudden, they are not only young people but walk-on people who move somewhat clumsily but joyfully on stage and you need only seize the moment to see them in another light.

Eccoli che si cimentano a fare le statue...pensate che sia facile stare in questa posizione per minuti senza perdere l'equilibrio e senza scoppiare a ridere?

Here they are, trying to look like statues… you think it’s easy to be still for endless minutes without losing their balance or bursting into laughter?

Così da un incontro all'altro il regista fornisce copioni per provare qualche improvvisazione: bastano un cappello, uno scialle un po' di trucco e tutto si trasforma in palcoscenico... ci prova anche qualche professore ma non c'è dubbio, loro sono più interessanti...

So meeting after meeting the director gives out scripts to prompt improvisation: all you need is a hat, a scarf, some make up and everything turns into a stage… teachers try as well, youngsters are decidedly more interesting, though!

Una discussione in strada che si trasforma in qualcosa di pericoloso, una chiaccherata tra amici o un momento affettuoso nella giornata di una coppia....
chissà cos'altro.In ogni caso il progetto "Su il sipario" procede a gonfie vele.

A conversation in a café turning into something dangerous, a chat among friends or a loving moment in the life of a couple… what else? All in all, “Up with the Curtain!” is going perfectly!

Concorso "Il Bidone simpatico" / Contest: "The Nicest Garbage Bin"

Siamo arrivati a Natale e si è concluso il concorso che ha visto le 9 classi del club ambientalista sfidarsi per vincere il podio!
I ragazzi hanno allestito il loro bidone creando rivestimenti originali, utilizzando diversi materiali per dare un messaggio di sostegno all'attenzione verso l'ambiente, sia scolastico che circostante. Così ecco che sono stati presentati: bidone "natura", bidone "E.T.", bidone "angelo", bidone "canestro", bidone   " argento", bidone "capelli", bidone "slogan" , bidone "occhi" e bidone "packman"


And now it is Christmas! The contest for the nicest garbage bin has come to an end. The nine classes making up the Environmental Club have accepted the challenge and made their own garbage bins. They have designed customised wrappings using a variety of materials to call for attention to their immediate surroundings.
The nine competing garbage bins were called as follows:
- Nature, - E.T., - Angel,  - Basket, - Silver, - Hair, - Slogan, - Eyes, - Mr Packman

La Commissione giudicatrice ha avuto un bel da fare per valutare i bidoni e per questo ha voluto utilizzare una griglia di valutazione in cui sono stati considerati: pertinenza al tema, uso dei materiali riciclabili e originalità del rivestimento. Ad ogni voce poteva essere assegnato un punteggio per un totale massimo di 20 punti

It wasn't easy for the Jury to choose the winner. An assessment grid was used. The garbage bins had to stick to the environmental topic, be wrapped up in recyclable materials, and imaginative wrappings had to be used. 20 was the maximum score.

E' stata dura ma alla fine sono stati selezionati i vincitori che hanno ricevuto in premio una chiavetta USB, mentre per i secondi e terzi classificati sono stati assegnati piccoli premi di consolazione.

It was hard work but in the end the winners got a pen drive each, the second best multicoloured shoe-strings and the third best little soft elephants for their Christmas trees.

In tanti hanno partecipato e in un clima di festa si è conclusa questa iniziativa; adesso i ragazzi continueranno a raccogliere lattine fino alla fine dell'anno scolastico ed allora bisognerà premiare un nuovo vincitore!

Participation was high and everybody was happy at the prize-giving ceremony; now pupils will keep collecting cans till the end of the school year and then a new winner will be picked out!

E' passato un mese dall'alluvione che ha devastato la nostra regione e le vittime di questa devastazione stanno per affrontare un Natale molto difficile: molti hanno perso la casa o l'azienda in cui lavoravano. Questa è un'immagine via satellite che documenta il disastro nella Provincia di Padova

L'ambiente circostante probabilmente potrebbe essere più tutelato per evitare tragedie come queste

In Novembre a huge flood devastated the region where we live, the Veneto; many peple lost everything... their homes or their jobs; Christmas is coming  and this will be a very sad year for them. Above you can see an image taken by a satellite that shows the disaster in the area around Padua.
Probably we should take better care of the environment. This may help us to avoid similar tragedies.

Ecco che dopo alcune riunioni abbiamo deciso di far partire il club ambientalista:
tutte le 9 classi coinvolte hanno il compito di raccogliere durante l'arco della settimana le lattine o bottiglie usate in un contenitore apposito; a fine settimana pesiamo le nostre immondizie riciclabili e le portiamo nel cassonetto della raccolta differenziata fuori della scuola. In questo modo speriamo di riuscire a renderci conto quale è il nostro livello di "consumatori" per cercare di capire quali problematiche stanno dietro alla raccolta dei rifiuti urbani.
Sono state stabilite delle regole precise che i membri del club devono rispettare e un concorso che premierà sia il raccoglitore più "simpatico" che la classe più efficiente nella raccolta differenziata.
Sarebbe interessante vedere i ragazzi fare a gara per chi è più attento alla pulizia della scuola....

Work in progress...our environmental club is under way:
every week all the 10 classes involved have  to collect all cans or bottles in a basket placed in their classrooms; at the end of the week, the recyclable garbage  must be weighed and put it into the recycling bin placed outside the school building. In this way we hope to be aware of our consumer "level" and understand the various problems which affect the waste collection in our town.
Members of the environmental club must follow certain rules in order to take part in a competition that will be organised. A prize will be awarded to the most original basket and the most efficient class.
It will be very interesting to see students compete to keep their school clean.....

Estonian meeting

The adventure has started!

We have been happy to meet all our partners and the Estonian students. It was a very interesting experience for us and an important opportunity to learn something about Estonian culture and educational system. We also have seen a lot of forests, the Baltic sea and many animals, part of  a wild and interesting nordic ecosystem.
Now,we are looking forward to the next meeting in Spain.

L'avventura è cominciata!
Siamo molto felici di aver incontrato tutti i partner e gli studenti Estoni. E' stata un'esperienza molto interessante e un'importante opportunità per imparare qualcosa della cultura Estone e del loro sistema educativo. Abbiamo visto anche molta foresta, il Mar Baltico e molti animali, parte di un ecosistema nordico ancora selvaggio.
Adesso aspettiamo con entusiasmo il prossimo meeting in Spagna
